Lina could only stare in wonderment as Zelgadis continued to move gracefully in his own serene world of shimmering blue.
The koi fish swirled around the chimera, their elegant fins flaring as they glided through the water. In their midst Zelgadis turned about gracefully, his limbs moving in a fluid choreography of his own creation.
The sorceress was mesmerized by the performance of her normally stoic friend. She'd always known that he had a certain sort of grace about him, but she never thought that she'd see it displayed in such a beautiful and whimsical fashion. He looked so carefree and content as he danced with the fish, and Lina realized that she might never have another chance to see him like this again.
Lina was shaken from her reverie when Zelgadis floated over to the edge of the bubble and reached out his hand to her. She blinked at his extended hand, not entirely sure of what to make of it, and her eyes slowly traveled up to his face. He was smiling at her gently, and the sorceress felt a blush spread across her cheeks that had nothing to do with the wine she'd consumed earlier. However, she would later reflect that the wine might've had some influence on her decision to reach up and take his gloved hand and be pulled into his world.
It was completely quiet inside the bubble, all noise muted so that they were wrapped in quiet serenity. Lina looked up at Zelgadis, her eyes questioning what was supposed to happen now. Zelgadis, in a move that would under normal circumstances probably earn him fireball to the face, placed the hand that wasn't already holding hers on the small of her back and guided her through the sparkling water. The light of the full moon illuminated the bubble as the danced, making everything glow in an unearthly beautiful way. The koi circled around them, their graceful forms making the experience that much more enchanting. Lina felt like she was in a dream as she slowly spun through the water with Zelgadis. All of her cares and worries just seemed to melt away in this magical world of water and light.
The chimera released her, leaving Lina with the freedom to move as she pleased. The sorceress smiled and allowed herself to let go, enjoying how the water seemed to caress her skin as she twirled through the luminescent liquid, her hair and skirt flowing out behind her as she moved. She reached out to the fish and laughed silently as they moved to circle around her extended hand. She turned back to look at Zelgadis, only to find that he'd stopped moving and was simply gazing at her, a soft look on his features. Lina felt her face heat up at the thought that he'd been just floating there and watching her dance all this time. It was one thing to dance with someone, but it was another thing entirely to do it by herself while being watched.
Her face burning, she moved to leave the bubble, but was stopped when she felt Zelgadis grab her hand and pull her back toward him. Her mouth pressed into a thin line as she gave the chimera a sour look over her shoulder, irritated that he'd tricked her into performing for him. He chuckled, though the sound was lost in the surrounding water, and pulled her closer still to wrap his arms around her from behind.
Lina stiffened for a brief moment before allowing her body to relax again. Zelgadis just seemed so happy and content, and even though he was drunk, it wasn't like he was doing anything inappropriate. Plus, the hug did feel nice…
Yes, she'd let him have his moment, she decided, placing her hands over his as she leaned her head back to rest against his chest, her eyes half-lidded as she contentedly watched the koi continue to swirl around the bubble as the two of them floated together in Zelgadis's world of shimmering blue.
